Takiko Okuda the daughter of a prestigious writer, is thrust into an unknown world. Her mother had just died, and her father returns from another of his many trips all for the sake of his writings. Longing for the sense of being needed Takiko journeys to the land of Hokkan and takes upon the role of Priestess of Genbu and is charged with the duties of finding all seven seishi and summon the beast god Genbu.
Genbu kaiden is the prequel to Yuu Watase's most famous series Fushigi Yuugi. This time we follow the first priestess, the priestess of Genbu and her journey to uncover all the warriors. Unlike the orignial FY Genbu kaiden deals with much darker themes, and isnt anywhere near as mushy as FY. Takiko's and Rumido's relation ship is much more mature as well as the rest of the characters. Takiko's end has already been predisposed in the orignial FY, and for those of us who have read it knows its tragic ending. |
